MyFitnessPal – Calorie Counter and Diet Tracker


Calorie Counter & Diet Tracker by MyFitnessPal is one of the most popular app for calorie and fitness tracking.  Once you create an account and enter your demographics it gives you a recommendation for daily caloric intake. This app has one of the most extensive database of food items. It has not only grocery foods but also many ethnic foods in their database as well. And if you don’t find any food in their database, it also gives you an option to add that food to the database and as your personal favorite. You also have an option to create a recipe that you had developed your self and add that as your favorite.  While creating a recipe in this app, it allows you to add all the ingredient and in doing so it gives you an estimate of calories in your recipe.

Adding entry to your daily meal plan is a breeze. You also have an option to enter in your snacks and set reminder for your snacks daily. It also allows you to track your daily water intake. Once all the entries are done for the day it gives you a breakdown of calorie consumed  and tells you how much protein, carbohydrate, and fat you ate.

This app also has an option to integrate with social media. This is a great motivating factor. You can compete with your friends; you can share your achievements with your friends and if you’re doing it in the group of friends then all can motivate each other.

One of the best feature that I like about this app is that it allows you to connect with other favorite apps and products such as BodyMedia FIT, Endomondo Sports, Fitbit Aria, Fitbit Tracker, iHealth wireless scales, Jawbone UP, The Withings Wi-Fi Scales, etc.
